Product Description This Bissell 14251 Little Green ProHeat Spot Cleaner gives you thorough deep cleaning convenience for tasks large and small. Strong spray and suction clean and help dry in one step. Long power cord and compact design make cleaning hard-to-reach areas easy. Stores ready-to-use.
Amazon.com Review A powerful mini steam-vac, the Little Green turbo compact multipurpose cleaner from Bissell uses hot water and a cleaning agent to eliminate both deep-down dirt and surface spills. Designed for use on carpet, upholstery, automobile seats, and more, the Little Green disperses and sucks up cleansing solution in one swipe across the dirty surface. The machine stores water and soap in separate compartments, blends them for dispersal, and recovers them together into a dirty water tank. An optional built-in heater with indicator light keeps hot water heated during cleaning. The unit features a built-in hose with a solution trigger, a tough-stain tool, and a TurboBrush with its own powered brush roll. The hose wraps around the base, and the power cord stores on quick-release hooks on the body. The tanks are easy to remove, fill, and replace, and the machine can be stored ready to use. Bissell includes an 8-ounce starter bottle of cleaning solution to get you started. --Emily Bedard

leaky but good cleaner July 25, 2010 C. L. Sellers (chattanooga tn USA) I love the way it cleans the upholstery. I have hard wood floors. While dragging it around the floor cleaning my couch, it scratched my floors and leaked somehow everywhere I'd been. I though maybe it was me when I put the tank on. Took it to carpet, without filling the tank, cleaned a rug and the place I had it sitting, soaking wet. I'll keep a towel under it from now on! I do like the heat. People say it's just a few degrees, well, how hot do they want it?? works well for cleaning.
Not good for intended purpose July 24, 2010 R. Taylor (Utah) We have a little dog that occasionally can't hold her water. So we bought this to quickly clean up little messes without going through the hassle of dragging out our bigger deep cleaner. This thing worked great for that purpose a couple times, but then the trigger stopped working, likely due to being gummed up by detergent. So after use, you have to run clean hot water through it to clean it up, and the trigger still doesn't function all that well. The spray pin-hole also gets gummed up. Bottom line: the spray function is worthless. So now we only use it to "suck" up and spray solution from a spray bottle. But this added complication doesn't make it "quick" anymore, at least no more quicker than our larger unit. I wanted a device that I could leave full of solution and pull it out for quick clean-ups. If it takes 20 minutes to prep the unit and clean it up then I'll stick with just using a rag to absorb the mess and clear up the space in my pantry. The larger Hoover unit was only $60 more and is an amazing machine with gobs of suction.
Little green machine --cleaner? July 22, 2010 Beatrice T. Radke We like our Little Green Machine, we have an older model and really do not use it too much. I have a question that I hope someone can answer. Do I need to use the Bissell Cleaner or does another brand work? I have some Sears Carpet and Uphostlery Cleaner? Does anyone know if that would work or is it too caustic, or cause other problems?
Thanks very much.
It saved the day--and my carpet July 7, 2010 L. Tenukas (Connecticut) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I had bought this because it was on sale at Bed, Bath and Beyond but didn't open it for a few months. Then yesterday I looked down at my light beige carpet and I had tracked a large swath of black and green oil paint on a foot long section. I grabbed the mineral spirits but it only made it worse. I tried Murphy's Oil soap but that wasn't doing much. So I opened up the carton with the Little Green cleaner and gave it a whirl. It worked! You can hardly see where the paint was. It mean, this was a lot of paint and now it's gone. It definitely saved the day.
Works fair, but needs more suction June 10, 2010 amazer (New Hampshire) I used to have a Hoover SteamVac-- an upright unit that looked like a vacuum cleaner. It had a hose attached to it to which you could put an attachment to clean stairs and car carpets like you do with the Bissell Little Green.
Eventually the Hoover died, but I had been impressed by the strong suction the machine generated. When you put your hand at the end of the hose, you could feel really strong suction, which sucked most of the water back into the machine.
The Bissell unit is, in my opinion, much less powerful even though the stated wattage of the motor is similar. When I use the Little Green and go through a tank of water, I can see that I've sucked up maybe only 10 percent of the water I applied. That's right, the tank that holds the dirty water has a ridiculously small amount of water in it, even though I very methodically and patiently try to suck up as much as I can.
This is a surprising and major shortcoming to this machine, since it leaves the carpets quite damp, as you'd imagine. Also, the hot water heater does not add an appreciable amount of heat to the water. I really don't think this product is worth buying-- the Hoover performs 10 times better-- really!
